Sahibganj SP Naushad Alam today appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and was interrogated by its sleuths on Tuesday.

Incidentally, on November 22, ED had asked SP Naushad Alam to appear for questioning. But SP Naushad Alam had sent a letter to ED asking for another date for his appearance.

Later, the ED had sent a second summons to Naushad Alam on November 22 and asked him to appear for questioning on 28th November.

Naushad Alam had written to ED saying that he had sought suggestions regarding the case from the police headquarters. In such a situation, they should be given a few days’ time and another date should be fixed for questioning.

Inquiry revealed that Naushad Alam, who was an ED witness, had denied any wrong role in the Vijay Hansda case.

Police Headquarters has been told by Naushad Alam that Sahibganj Police had provided bodyguard to Vijay Hansda after the instructions of the court.

When Naushad Alam took charge as Sahibganj SP, Vijay Hansda had applied in the Supreme Court to go to Delhi with a bodyguard in connection with a case.

Since the day on which Vijay had to go to Delhi was Sunday, a railway warrant could not be obtained, keeping in view the security, on the orders of Dumka DIG, Vijay was allowed to go to Delhi with a bodyguard.

During this process, the bodyguard expressed his inability to go without a railway warrant and asked SP Sahibganj to get the ticket confirmed, after which Naushad Alam in Ranchi called and asked the sergeant to get the ticket.

As such, SP Naushad Alam is accused of arranging a ticket for Vijay Hansda, an ED witness in the illegal mining case, to go to Delhi. He is also accused of instigating Vijay Hansda, a witness of illegal mining in Sahibganj.

ED had found in the investigation that Vijay Hansda had to go to Delhi to present his side in the case going on in the Supreme Court.
