Capture the Right Moment’.This was the theme of photography workshop organized for students of mass communications by UNICEF Jharkhand and Karim City College as a part of the UNICEF on Campus Knowledge Initiative from September 20-21 in Jamshedpur.

Moira Dawa, Communication Officer, UNICEF said, “Through the UNICEF on Campus Knowledge Initiative a pool of trained young people will be created as advocates for child rights. We seek to tap into the creativity energy of young

people and empowers them to report violations of child rights and mobilise communities. UNICEF Jharkhand has partnered with colleges and Universities in the state to increase awareness about child rights, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which have replaced the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).”

Kumar Premchand, WASH Specialist, UNICEF urged the students to become a part of the Swachh Bharat social movement. He gave an overview of the status and challenges in Jharkhand.

Eminent photographer and lead resource person for the two day photography workshop,Madhu Sarkar, walked the participants through the technicalities of the craft. Rejan Sahay, Chief Corporate Communications, TRF spoke about the potential for photography for social cause.

The selected photographs will be exhibited and featured in a Special Edition booklet being released towards the end of the year to mark UNICEF’s 70th anniversary.

The workshop was attended by Neha Tiwari, Prof-in-charge, Department of Mass Communication, Karim City College, faculty and students,Jamshedpur.
