Serving for just 14 days as Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court, Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi will retire on July 19. 

He will be succeeded by Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad with effect from July 20. Justice Bidyut Ranjan Sarangi had taken oath as the 15th chief justice of the Jharkhand High Court on July 5. 

Now, Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad has been notified as Acting Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court. 

Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad,born on 20th June 1967 who Passed did M.A. and LLB was elevated as Additional Judge of High Court of Jharkhand and took oath on September 26, 2014. 

Records show that he was transferred from Jharkhand High Court and joined as Judge Orissa High Court on March 12,2015. 

Justice Sujit Narayan Prasad was also nominated in Orissa High Court as a Member of Judicial Academy and Training, Computer Committee, e-Committee, Juvenile Justice Committee, Building Committee (High Court and Lower Court), Transfer Committee, Vehicle Committee, Research Assistant Appointment Committee, Family Court Counsellor Appointment Committee, Class -IV Appointment Committee, Chairman, High Power Committee Utkal Univeristy (Law faculty). 

After he was repatriated from Orissa High Court, he took oath as Judge of the High Court of Jharkhand on November 22, 2018. Ever since then he has been performing his role commendably.
