The program began with student Sakshi narrating the captivating mythological tale of two brothers, Karam and Dharam.
This was followed by the screening of an impressive documentary on the Karam festival, produced by Akhra.
The highlight of the event was a special fashion show presented by the students, showcasing the distinct lifestyles and traditional attire of Jharkhand's five major tribes - Ho, Khadiya, Munda, Santhali, and Oraon.
Through this performance, students highlighted the uniqueness of each community and the significance of nature in their lives. A group of students also presented enchanting Karam songs and dances, mesmerizing all those present.
Speaking on the occasion, University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ashok R. Patil said, "While our university regularly organizes such cultural events, this Karam Festival holds special significance.
The enthusiasm displayed by students towards nature and its conservation is truly inspiring. I am confident that we will succeed in sensitizing future generations towards the environment as well. Our goal is to celebrate next year's Karam Festival outside the university campus, in a tribal village, allowing us to understand their issues and contribute to their resolution."
Assistant Registrar Dr. Jisu Ketan Patnaik expressed heartfelt gratitude to the students and the organizing committee for this spectacular event. He stated, "Such programs are an effective means to understand the importance of nature and spread awareness about its conservation. The active participation of all members of the university family has made this event extremely successful."
This celebration of the Karam festival not only instilled a sense of pride in students towards their cultural heritage but also highlighted the importance of nature conservation.
The event has become a symbol of NUSRL's commitment to preserving cultural diversity and integrating traditional values with modern education.
The festival showcased how NUSRL is not just an institution of legal studies but also a place where cultural heritage is celebrated and preserved. It demonstrated the university's holistic approach to education, emphasizing the importance of understanding and respecting diverse cultural traditions alongside academic pursuits.
This celebration of the Karam Festival at NUSRL has set a benchmark for cultural events in educational institutions, promoting cultural awareness, environmental consciousness, and community engagement among the student body and faculty alike.
