Among two prominent leaders who filed nomination papers in Ranchi today were CP Singh of the BJP and Mahua Maji of the JMM. 

While Singh who had defeated Manji in 2014 and 2019,is a popular saffron leader.The motorists on all roads linking Kutchery and office of the collectorate in Ranchi suffered untold miseries between 11 am to 1 pm.

The JMM preferred to field Manji  against Singh even though she currently holds the post of Rajya Sabha MP. In addition to Singh and Manji, nearly 100 leaders of other parties filed nomination papers on the last date of first of the two rounds of the Assembly polls on November 13, and 20.

They included JMM’s Hemant Soren in Barhait and Hemant Soren’s wife and JMM’s Kalpana Soren who filed nomination paper in presence of the Congress’ Rajya Sabha MP Sarfaraz Ahmad. 

After filing his nomination paper, CM Hemant Soren addressed an election rally at Dumaria maidan in Borio. 

The traffic was also hit because BJP’s senior leaders including Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai,Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister Faggan Singh Kulaste were present in a mega show of strength.
