Bihar is in the news again for consuming and selling the confiscated liquor bottles. The latest incident took place in Vaishali where seven persons were arrested by personnel from the Anti-Liquor Task Force-3 (ALTF-3) on Monday.

The ALTF-3 charged them with misappropriating the banned liquor and seized it during a raid.

They were accused of consuming and selling the confiscated bottles. Some liquor bottles were recovered from their residences during a follow-up raid, police said.

"We received confidential information indicating that during a raid conducted by the task force in the Mahua police station area, some team members secretly kept a portion of the seized liquor. The liquor was either consumed by them or sold to customers. Upon verification, the information was found to be true," Vaishali SP Harkishore Rai said.

A special investigation team (SIT) was formed under the leadership of Mahua SDPO Surabh Suman. "The SIT, with assistance from local police, raided the ALTF-3 location where the personnel reside.

During the operation, 32 litres of country liquor and one bottle of foreign liquor were recovered from their residence in the Patepur police station area," the SP added.

A case was subsequently registered at Mahua police station and seven members of the ALTF-03 team, including a woman constable, were arrested. The arrested police personnel included Nisar Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, Priya Rani, Mahesh Rai, Rampravesh Singh, Mantosh Kumar and Ratnesh Kumar.
