Jharkhand's JMM is on track to secure a massive second consecutive term as part of the INDIA bloc.
“Vote katne aye the, kat gaye”( came to cut votes, got cut), is the comment of the JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya.
The Election Commission data showed that the JMM was leading in 55 of total of 81 constituencies till 3.30 pm.
Among those who were declared victorious were BJP’s Champai Soren and Babulal Marandi, JMM’s Hemant Soren and Congress Rameshwar Oraon.
BJP’s candidate CP Singh was leading by a thin margin against JMM’s Mahua Maji.
The landslide victory of the JMM and its allies- Congress, RJD, and Left parties are attributed to three main factors- Maiya Yojna, the emergence of a new combination of Muslim, Christian, and Adivasi votes, and Vote Katwa politics played by a new Kurmi- Mahato leader Jairam Mahto.
Although Mahto won from one constituency, Dumri, he managed to divide the votes of his community resulting in the defeat of the BJP and its ally All Jharkhand Students Union in a dozen seats.
Both Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his wife, legislator Kalpana Soren, who entered politics after her husband's arrest earlier this year, held nearly 200 election rallies after elections were announced. And they defeated the BJP’s top brass comprising PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, UP CM Yogi Adityanath who aggressively campaigned against the JMM on issues of corruption, Bangladeshi Ghuspethia and Katen Ge to Bate Gae slogan.
Loyal JMM workers have already begun celebrations, bursting crackers and distributing sweets, even though the Election Commission has yet to announce the results.
Jharkhand Election Results 2024 According to the Election Commission, JMM was leading in 31 out of the 43 seats it contested at 1.30 pm.
