The day was December 5, 2024. On this date,CSIR-NML  entered into a MoU with the M/s Makaney Metals, Mumbai for recycling of industrial scraps/ wastes to produce value added saleable products.   

On this auspicious occasion, Dr. Sandip Ghosh Chowdhury, Director of CSIR-NML, Jamshedpur, Dr. Ankur Sharma, Project Leader, Dr. Manis Kumar Jha, Co-Project Leader, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Head MER, Dr. Jhumki Hait, Sr. Principal Scientist, Dr. Krishna Kumar, Senior Scientist and a group of researchers Dr. Rekha Panda, Ms. Karina Rani and from the RPBD side, Dr. S.K. Pal, Dr. Beena Kumari, and Dr. A. K. Sahu were present. They helped in getting the documentation done.

In this era of the circular economy when the recycling is gaining  importance worldwide, this effort is expected to play an important role in providing indigenous technology towards sustainable development for metal recovery from the alternative resources as well as the saving of the environment. 

Since mines and the natural resources are limited and the energy resources are getting expensive, recycling of these industrial scraps can add towards the national economy as well as generate employment, co-operative of the mass of the illiterate people, etc.
