A retired officer is in the dock. The Civil Court in Ranchi has declined to award him bail for the horrific sexual exploitation of a woman for years.
He is retired District Development Commissioner (DDC) Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, who is accused of sexually exploiting a woman for 16 years under the pretext of marriage.
The court of Additional District Judge Manish Ranjan has rejected the anticipatory bail petition filed by Chaudhary.
The court also rejected the anticipatory bail petition of his son, Manish Anand. The victim woman was represented in court by Supreme Court lawyer Shishir Raj, who stated that she hails from Namkum.
According to the FIR filed by her, a widow, she had first met Chaudhary in 2008 in connection with a job. Choudhary, then an officer stationed in Pakur, allegedly promised her a job and called her to meet.
He then took her to a hotel and sexually exploited her. When the woman protested, he promised to marry her.
During this time, Choudhary claimed to be unmarried and continued his contact with her. After being transferred to Lohardaga, Choudhary called the woman again and had physical relations with her. In 2012, Choudhary retired from his position as DDC.
