“The news of the heartbreaking incident at the Karma Project in Ramgarh has left me extremely distressed and angry. Several of our laborer brothers are feared trapped in an illegal coal mine. I pray for their safety and extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.”

Two days after four illegal coal miners had died due to the cave in of the abandoned coal mines in Karma coal project in Ramgarh on July 5,politics has hit the state with the BJP,a main opposition party leader, Babulal Marandi criticising the Hemant Soren government.

He further stated, “But let me be clear—this is not an accident. This is murder. It is murder caused by the negligence of a corrupt and incompetent government that has turned a blind eye to illegal operations flourishing in broad daylight. How long will the poor of Jharkhand continue to lose their lives like this?”

Marandi highlighted the widespread nature of illegal mining and said, “Be it Ramgarh, Dhanbad, Hazaribagh, or Bokaro—this deadly black trade is thriving everywhere, while the state government claims ignorance. Every single life lost is the responsibility of this government.”

Marandi alleged that the illegal operations are being carried out under the protection of the police and state machinery. “It is no secret who is shielding these crimes. When the state itself is being run by an illegally appointed DGP, who is there left to question?”

Marandi pointed out that although CCL had officially shut down the mine, the mafia resumed operations right under the nose of the state government. “If this is not a complete failure of governance, then what is?”

Demanding a high-level investigation into the incident, Marandi concluded, “This cycle of death must end. The government must be held accountable for every single life lost.”
