The arrested of Shrikant Chaudhary revealed that he was responsible for brutally murdering two women in Giridih district earlier this week.

Investigation by the police revealed that after their murder,, the crime coming to light, the man accused of the killings was found dead in police custody.

The incident has sparked a suspicion and outrage in Giridih.

The victims, Rinku Devi (32), wife of Santosh Ravidas, and Soni Devi (25), had gone missing four days ago after leaving their homes for collecting leaves.

Their bodies were later recovered from a forest near Golgo Hills, about four kilometres from their village.

Police arrested Shrikant Chaudhary, who allegedly confessed to strangling the two women.

According to investigators, Shrikant had been in a relationship with Soni Devi for several years and often met her secretly in the forest.

On Monday, suspecting her of being involved with other men, he allegedly strangled her. He then killed Rinku Devi, who had accompanied her, to eliminate a witness, and buried both bodies in the forest.
