Jharkhand government wants to eradicate child marriage menace across the state. The menace has been affecting the lives of scores of tribal and non-tribal families for long.
The menace is rooted in culture and tradition. Now, the state government in league with UNICEF, Jharkhand seems determined to end it.
To do so, 'Jharkhand State Action Plan to End Child Marriage’ is coming out to be implemented across Jharkhand. Toward the same end, the Chief Minister Raghubar Das is going to make it public on 28 November in Conference Hall, behind Project Bhawan, Ranchi.
The plan proposes to launch a campaign against it; educate children, and mobilize people to end this social crime. All this and more including opinions are slated to be raised in a programme.
The programme is slated to be attended by Sunil Barnwal, Secretary to the Chief Minister; D K Tiwari, Development Commissioner; Secretaries of the Department of WCD, Education, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj among others.
UNICEF Representative in India, Dr. Yasmin Ali Haque will also join, along with Dr. Madhulika Jonathan, Chief of UNICEF Jharkhand.
