Lawyers in Ranchi were up in arms. They boycotted work in protest against what they said 'Police attack' on their colleagues in the national capital.

As a result, the functioning of the court remained paralyzed. However, a group of lawyers were spotted working inside the civil court. One of them who does not want to be named criticized the agitating lawyers.

"We are responsible professionals. We can not violate the law by beating up police personnel and then defend this violent act. We are feeling sad for what lawyers did in Delhi", he observed.

Meanwhile, thousands of police personnel protested outside the Police Headquarters in New Delhi on Tuesday and demanded action against those involved in an attack on their colleague outside the Saket court.

At this site of their protest, Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik emerged as a hero in the eyes of media persons when he urged his protesting police personnel to resume duty.

The tension between police personnel and lawyers had been building up since Saturday when a clash over parking of car dispute led to at least 20 security personnel and several advocates injured.

As surging crowds of protesting cops gathered outside the police Headquarters in ITO, New Delhi, leading to traffic snarls, Patnaik came out of his office to assure them that their concerns will be addressed.

PTI quoted Patnaik telling police personnel from a podium;"We have to behave like a disciplined force. The government and the people expect us to uphold the law, it is our big responsibility. I urge you all to resume duty."

In fact, the entire top brass of the Delhi Police tried to pacify the police personnel who were chanting slogans demanding justice and wore black bands. Delhi police have a strength of 80,000 personnel.
