"Jina Ayha Marna Ayha, Iske Shiwa Jana Kaha"(Have to live here. Where to go from here), sings 45-year old Javed Akhter. Mr Akhter was attending a local clinic to nurse the coughing and sneezing relative who has tested Coronavirus positive.
The 35 persons of a total of 59 Coronavirus positive patients who were quarantined in Jharkhand were from Hindpiri Mohalla in Ranchi. Of the total 3 deaths in the entire state due to Coronavirus, two deceased hailed from Hindpiri.
The hospitalised and quarantined are 37 in Ranchi,10 in Bokaro,3 in Hazaribagh,2 each in Dhanbad, Giridih, Simdega and Deoghar and 1 in Garhwa.
At RIMS and Khel Gaon where these Hindpiri COVID-19 patients were quarantined, the doctors and paramedics were providing them food, medicines and medical service."They appeared to be tense and fear-stricken", said a senior RIMS doctor who was monitoring them.
As it is, unlike the past when residents of Hindpiri, especially belonging to families of minority community offered prayers and observed fast in cheers during Ramadan, this time the entire locality was in a state of lockdown.
Mosques in Hindpiri were empty. The Namaz was being offered inside homes, said a resident. The plight of COVID-19 patients who belonged to a minority community can be any body's guess.
In fact, all 35 COVID-19 patients including a Malaysian woman were connected with Hindpiri. Even a Malaysian woman who had recovered and tested negative on Friday was found in Hindipiri.
