*Chief Minister Hemant Soren visited Indian Institute of Natural Resins and Gums, Namkum on Tuesday

Reacting to Chief Minister Hemant Soren's observation that lac products can provide job opportunities, the Indian Institute of Natural Resins and Gums' sweeper Arun Ram said: "nothing he (CM)opined was not known to us".

" The challenge is to use fashion technology and market to boost the sale of churis for women and showpieces made of lac", said Ram.

Like him, another staff who does not want to be named, said: " CM has generated hope that lac products and our institution will gain ground."

Chief Minister visited the Indian Institute of Natural Resins and Gums, Namkum and took information about the research conducted by the institute for the manufacture of lac processing products.

Soren said that the government has started the initiative to generate job opportunities in the state so that workers do not have to migrate to other states for employment.

"The government is also providing employment to the migrant laborers returning to their home at their villages and panchayats", he said.

The Chief Minister said that in the context of Jharkhand, lac- cultivation and its ready made products can prove to be an "excellent medium of employment."

"People in rural areas should be linked with lac cultivation and all resources will be made available for this", he pointed out.

Soren said that this institute is the only institute in the country, which was once known all over the world for the cultivation and research of lac.

In the cultivation of lac, there used to be involvement of a large number of rural families, but unfortunately, this institute and lac cultivation is going through adverse conditions today. The art of making lac products is becoming extinct.

"The government will take necessary steps to develop it again", said the CM.

On this occasion MLA Rajesh Kachhap, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Rajiv Arun Ekka, Director of the Institute Dr. KK Sharma, Director of Information and Public Relations Directorate Rajiv Lochan Bakshi, Chief Minister's Press Advisor Abhishek Prasad and other officials were present.
