At a time when ex-CM Hemant Soren was struggling to gain justice from the PMLA court in Ranchi and Supreme Court in New Delhi, Jharkhand Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan today administered an oath of office and secrecy to Champai Soren as the Chief Minister in a swearing-in ceremony inside Raj Bhawan premise in Ranchi in presence of several JMM- Congress- RJD alliance leaders and members.
Champai Soren was invited by the office of Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan at around 11 pm on Thursday, over 25 hours after Hemant Soren had tendered his resignation on Wednesday evening.
Before taking the oath of office as the CM, newly appointed Champai Soren, who is considered a “ loyal follower” of the Soren family, touched the feet of JMM supremo Shibu Soren and took his blessings.
The Governor also administered an oath to Congress’ Alamgir Alam and RJD’s Satyanand Bhogta. Alam and Bhogta were rural development and skill development Ministers respectively in the previous Hemant Soren government.
The new CM Champai Soren has been directed by Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan to prove the support of a majority on the floor of the 81- MLAs strong Jharkhand Assembly within 10 days beginning on January 2, 2024.
