A large number of women worshiped Goddess Devi at the Devi Madai temple on Kanke road, near Ranchi University post office- 834008 on the day of Ram Navami

These women worship the Goddess Devi at Madai Devi temple in Ranchi where the Adivasi community also performs puja rituals on the occasion of their Karma festival.

However, unlike the Adivasi people, the women of the Hindu community worship Goddess Devi on the day of Ram Navami. This worship is part of the traditional festival of “Devi Durga”.

It falls in spring and is called Vasanti / Chaitri Durga puja. This Chaitra Navaratri is done in a personal manner in Shakta households. The ninth day of this festival coincides with the Vaishnava festival of Ram Navami.

The festival of Devi Durga is a prime affair where festivities are done by the whole community. This time is called Sharannavaratri or Sharadiya Durga puja. Amongst shaktas this is understood as being Akaal Bodhan or untimely invocation of the Goddess.

The tenth day of this festival coincides with the Vaishnava festival where Rama slew Ravana. Many festivals of many traditions in many regions fall on the same day. Obviously, for most Hindus, any festival is a good reason to celebrate and remember the Divine.
