BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has slammed the Congress party for providing a ticket to Pradeep Yadav who is facing a sexual harassment case filed against him by a woman.

As a BJP candidate, Dubey who is a firebrand leader of the saffron party is contesting to retain Godda Lok Sabha seat where the Congress has fielded Pradeep Yadav as its candidate.

“I will not name him or speak about him( Pradeep Yadav) during my campaign as he is well known as an accused in the sex harassment case”, said Dubey on Monday.

Last year, Jharkhand High Court rejected a petition filed by Yadav who had sought the dismissal of a sexual harassment case filed against him by a woman.

After hearing the arguments, a bench of Justice Subhash Chand had reserved the order, which was pronounced during the day on September 1, 2023.

Yadav, who joined the Congress after winning the 2019 assembly elections on a JVM-P ticket from Poraiyahat, is facing prosecution in the MP-MLA court in Dumka.

An FIR was filed after the woman, a JVM-P member and an advocate of the high court, had alleged that Yadav “tried to rape her” in April 2019 after they met at a hotel in Deoghar to discuss the strategy for the Lok Sabha elections.

However, she managed to escape from the spot, she claimed in the FIR.

Aware of it, Nishikant Dubey criticised the grand old party for nominating the alleged accused -Pradeep Yadav, MLA -in sexual harassment case and made a mockery of his rival -Pradeep Yadav, MLA-in electoral field Pradeep Yadav, MLA.
