Amidst temperatures coming down across Jharkhand, the state government has announced to re-start pre-summer school timings from May 13.

This means all schools in the state will function as per their pre-summer time tables, according to a notification issued by the school education and literacy department on May 10, 2024.

Records show that on April 20, 2024, due to heatwave-like conditions prevailing across Jharkhand, the state government had announced a change in school timings from April 22 until further notice.

Under the April 22 notification’s schedule, students from kindergarten to class 8 will attend schools from 7 am to 11.30 am, while senior pupils from class 9 to 12 will continue classes till noon.

This adjustment applied to all categories of government, non-government-aided, unaided, and private schools in the state.

The order explicitly prohibited prayer meetings or sports activities conducted under the sun during this period, although mid-day meals will continue to be served. Now, the school timings will be as it was during pre-summer period.
