It’s an ambitious programme meant only for tribals.

Billed as Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan, it is meant to improve the socio-economic conditions of the country's tribal communities. 

By announcing this scheme in the annual budget 2024, Modi government aims to achieve saturation coverage for tribal families.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced it in the Budget 2024 speech on floor of the Lok Sabha on July 23. 

The initiative, states Sitharaman, will cover 63,000 villages benefitting 5 crore tribal people, she said.
