Reacting to the death of two passengers and injury to 20 others due to derailment of 18 coaches of the Howrah-Mumbai Mail (Train number 12810) this morning near Jamshedpur, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has instructed officials to assist the injured passengers immediately.
Already, soon after the accident, state Information and Public Relation Department officer Abinash Kumar had reached the site.
Several other district officials from East and West Singhbhum were reportedly involved in providing relief to the victims. In his post on X, the CM Soren stayed this:” Make immediate arrangements for the treatment of the injured.”
The Jharkhand government has dispatched emergency response teams to the scene to assist with rescue and relief efforts. Also, the Indian Railways has issued multiple helpline numbers for Tatanagar (Jamshedpur), Chakradharpur, Rourkela, Howrah, Mumbai, Nagpur, Ranchi, and other locations.
At least two people were killed and 20 injured when 18 coaches of the Howrah-Mumbai Mail (Train number 12810) derailed early Tuesday morning near Rajkharsawan railway station in Jharkhand after colliding with a goods train.
Recently, Railways have been marred with a series of train accidents. This is the fourth train accident this year.
The incident occurred around 3:45 am in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district, approximately 7 km from Rajkharsawan station, under the Chakradharpur railway division of South Eastern Railways, according to a statement from railway officials.
Why the latest train derailment took place near Jamshedpur?
Train Manager South Eastern Railway, Md. Rehan replied, "The incident happened as a Goods Train had already derailed in the downline and Howrah-CSMT Express was moving at 120 kmph...The upline was affected". This led to the accident.
