Ahead of the Assembly elections, the Hemant Soren government has doubled the monthly honorarium for the traditional tribal heads of villages.
They were known as Manki,Pragnet,Munda, Dakuwa, Gram Pradhan, Paranik,Jog Manjhi,Kudam Nayaki,Nayeki,Godet,Mul Raiet,Gramin Diuri( priest), Padha Raja,Ghatwal and so on in different tribal villages of the state.
While the honorarium of the Manki and Pragnet will be paid Rs 6000, Munda and Gram Pradhan will be paid Rs 4000 per month.Other Gram pradhans will be paid Rs 2000 each.
As per the state finance department data, the state welfare department will bear an outlay of Rs 89.59 crore against the outlay of Rs 44.79 crore spent since it was approved by the previous BJP government led by the CM Raghubar Das in 2016.
After the state welfare department approved a draft proposal toward the above hike in honorarium of traditional tribal heads of villages in tribal belt, the state cabinet gave its nod today, August 7,2024.
