The Junior Doctors of the state government run RIMS hospital in Ranchi on Tuesday boycotted work in protest against the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata. 

They took out a procession under the banner of “ Akrosh March”( Anger procession ). Also, they kept themselves away from surgery and OPD duties. “ New patients were not admitted”, said Junior Doctors Association leader.

However, the Emergency services remained unaffected. Alongside, the doctors of the Central Institute of Psychiatry, a Union Health Ministry run residential hospital of persons with mental deceases took out procession in solidarity with doctors of Kolkata who were protesting against the gruesome incident at the RG Kar Medical College. 

Their strike has reportedly paralysed elective services including OPDs and non-emergency surgeries. The stir was in response to a call from the Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA).
