The 12-hour Bharat Bandh called by the Bhim Army, National Confederation of Dalit Organisations, Odisha Adivasi Kalyan Mahasangha, Adivasi Ekta Parishad, SC, ST Minorities, OBC Joint Action Committee and other Dalit organizations evoked lukewarm response in Jharkhand on Wednesday.
However, the bandh supporters staged picketing and blockades at some places in the state capital, Ranchi. The agitators burnt a tyre near Harmu Chowk in Ranchi this morning.
While academic institutions, especially schools and colleges remained closed today, vehicular traffic was hit in some places.
Most offices and business establishments remained open. In several places, protestors staged protests, bus stands, and major stops stalling the movements of vehicles. Public transportation services were affected in some places. However, though shops were closed in Upper bazar and main roads, the scene was almost normal in Kanke road, Radium road and Lalpur.
No untoward incident was reported from anywhere in the state.
