Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Thursday approved a file seeking to notify two down trodden castes-Rotiya and Khangar –as Scheduled Tribes in Jharkhand.

As per the law,the CM’s approved file will be sent to the Centre for approval.A report from the state government claimed that the state government run Dr Ram Dayal Munda Tribal Welfare and Research Institute(TRI) had cleared the proposal to declare two SCs -Rotiya and Khangar- as STs.

The report claims that Rotiya and Khangar castes people had tribal features and cultures.Both these castes were economically and socially backward.The TRI’s report was submitted to the state government on June 26,2016
