The Department of Finance Management of Xavier Institute Of Social Service, Ranchi, following its decade-old tradition hosted an official Fresher’s Party, “LUAU 2018” for its new batch of 2018-2020 on 21st July, 2018. The theme of the event was ‘HAWAII’. Dr. Fr. Alexius Ekka S.J., Director, XISS was the chief guest for the event and hence lit the lamps, declaring the event open. The Department of Finance Management handed out plant saplings to their guests as a token of love. Among the other dignitaries present in the event was Prof. Arup Mukherjee, HOD, Department of Finance Management and other departmental heads including Human Resource, Finance, Rural Management and Information Technology. Other faculty members gracing the occasion were Dr. R. Chaturvedi, Dr. Giri, Dr. Bhowani, Dr. R. Dwivedi, Dr. P. Jha and Dr. A. Kauser.


There were various events organised by the senior students of the department to welcome their juniors, beginning with a welcome dance by Yashaswini, a student of the department. A traditional Nagpuri dance and a Hawaiian song set the mood for the rest of the scheduled programme. A play depicting the plight of women in the modern day society was performed by the students. Finally, the much-awaited event for the day, Walk the Ramp began- which would eventually decide upon the winners of the titles of Mr. and Ms. Fresher 2018. Clearing four rounds of the selection process, including a question and answer round in the final round Mr. Rohan Singh Rautela with the title of Mr. Freshers and Miss. Samiksha Nagar was crowned as Miss Freshers for the year 2018. It was Mr. Manish Kumar and Miss. Khushboo Tigga who were the runner-ups for the title of the Mr/Miss Freshers. 

The best-Dressed female was Miss Sakshi Bhatiya and Best Dressed male was Mr. R. Abhishek.

The students of the newly joined batch also showcased their talents through group dance performances, soulful singing as well as a powerful skit. The day ended with a power-packed dance performance leading everyone to the dance floor.
