If Tripura’s BJP-led government decides to evacuate students of the state stranded in violence-hit Manipur, why can’t Jharkhand’s JMM-led government do so?
A total number of 34 students from Jharkhand, who are studying at different educational institutions including Central Agriculture University, and the National Institute of Technology are already evacuated.
They are being flown back from Imphal in special commercial aircraft, said Santosh Singh of the state department of labour.
The same department is operating the control room which had recorded the request of 34 students to evacuate them. In the first phase, the air tickets of 22 students were booked for their arrival on Tuesday.
Most of these students to land in Ranchi this evening are from West and East Singhbhum, Bokaro, Dhanbad, and Ranchi.
While 22 students are scheduled to reach their homes within 24 hours from now, a second flight carrying the rest students willing to return home as per the request received and order issued by the labour department of Jharkhand.
However, the department has no record showing the total number and background of students from Jharkhand studying in Manipur.
