BJP MP from Hazaribagh in Jharkhand Shri Jayant Sinha had put up the following questions in Lok Sabha. These questions were related to the implementation and status of the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) in Jharkhand in the last three years.
His questions were :
(a) the funds utilised under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) in Jharkhand in the last three years;
(b) the number of beneficiaries under AAY from Jharkhand, district-wise; and
(c) the initiatives taken by the Government to ensure that the scheme reaches more eligible beneficiaries?
In her reply Minister of State for Ministry of Rural Development & Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti gave a point-wise answer which is as follows :
(a): No food subsidy claim was raised by the State Government of Jharkhand during the year 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2021-22. Department of Food & Public Distribution (DFPD) released an amount of Rs. 3.66 crore as food subsidy under National Food Security Act (NFSA) including Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) to Jharkhand during 2020-21.
Further, the value of foodgrains for AAY lifted by the State Government of Jharkhand from FCI during the last three years is as under:-

(c): Under the joint responsibility of Union and State Governments for implementation of the Targeted Public Distribution System under the NFSA (Including AAY), the responsibility for identification of beneficiaries rests with the concerned State Government. As per the provisions of the NFSA Act, the State Government is required to identify the beneficiaries under the AAY to the extent and as per the guidelines specified by the Central Government.
