The World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated as a global campaign every year from 1st to 7th August, to strengthen the efforts for improving breastfeeding practices. 

Keeping in view the benefits of breastfeeding and the rarest possibility of vertical transmission, during COVID 19 pandemic also, Ministry of Health and Family had recommended breastfeeding to all newborns. 

The move was regardless of the COVID status of the newborn/mother following necessary infection prevention and control protocols.

Now,the theme of World Breastfeeding Week - 2022 is "Step up for Breastfeeding: Educate and Support". 

Recognizing the importance of breastfeeding in managing the double burden of malnutrition, reducing inequities, and providing food security, the theme aims at revamping the capacity through education and transformation in existing systems

PATH in partnership with NHM is supporting the state in Strengthening Oxygen Eco System, Health system strengthening projects, Government of India campaigns such IDCF campaign, newborn week, world Breastfeeding week.PATH is building the capacity of health work force on maternal and newborn care in the state. 

PATH is also supporting Health Department in establishing a Comprehensive Lactation Management Centre(CLMCs) and Lactation Management Units (LMUs) across the State. 

With support from NHM, PATH commemorate World Breastfeeding Week on August 5, 2022, by hosting an event closer to community at CHC Ratu, Ranchi.

This event will be organised for ASHAs, ANMS, Lactating Mothers, and other CHC staff to raise awareness on themes related to Breastfeeding.PATH in partnership with NHM Jharkhand commemorate World Breastfeeding Week today on August 5, 2022 at CHC Ratu in Ranchi, capital of Jharkhand.
