The World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated as a global campaign every year from 1st to 7th August, to strengthen the efforts for improving breastfeeding practices.
Keeping in view the benefits of breastfeeding and the rarest possibility of vertical transmission, during COVID 19 pandemic also, Ministry of Health and Family had recommended breastfeeding to all newborns.
The move was regardless of the COVID status of the newborn/mother following necessary infection prevention and control protocols.
