Maoists have suffered a major setback following the destruction of their camp and seizure of a huge quantity of arms and ammunition recovered by security forces in Chiriabeda village under Muffassil police station in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand.
Chiriabeda falls in areas full of iron ore mines, a major source of ransom collection by Maoists from transportation and mining operators. The security forces burnt their camp and seized explosives, materials to make bombs, guns, and Maoist literature.
On a tip-off, security forces comprising district police, Jaguar, 209 Battalion of COBRA,60 and 197 Battalion of the CRPF, launched a search operation and destroyed their camp, says West Singhbhum SP Ashutosh Shekhar.
“ Maoists fled, leaving their camp. The search operation is still going on”, informed the SP. “By using bomb disposal squad, explosives were distorted.”
