The FIR registered by the police in Jamshedpur today revealed that tension had been brewing in the Kadma area after members of a local organization found a piece of banned meat packed up in a Ram Navami flag.

Reports claim that brick-batting and arson took place between two groups over the alleged desecration of the Ram Navami flag at Shashtrinagar, Kadma on Sunday.

Following the violence, Prohibitory orders under 144 of the CrPC were imposed in the area. Also, security forces conducted a flag March in the Kadma area following the stone pelting and arson. Mobile Internet was banned.

On Saturday Hindu organizations protested and demanded that the police arrest the culprits “within 24 hours”.

Now, the police say, bricks were pelted and makeshift shops and a few vehicles were set ablaze by the mob after which they had detained a few people.

Next, police registered FIR on Monday after the communal violence erupted in Jamshedpur’s Kadma area on Sunday evening over the alleged desecration of a Ram Navami flag.
