Ahead of the General Elections 2024, dharna, procession and rally near Zakir Hussain Park and Raj Bhawan have been a day to day affair causing massive traffic jams. This has been the scenario during the past week in the state capital city of Jharkhand.

This has prompted the district administration to invoke Section Section 144 of the Cr.PC in the central city area and it will remain in force for two months-from 12 noon on March 12 to May 10, 2014.

The district authorities anticipate situations that could potentially disturb public peace, such as: law and order problem due to large gatherings.

The imposition section 144 aims to prevent such situations by limiting them, says Ranchi Sub Divisional Officer Utkarsh Kumar. To enforce Section 144 Cr.PC,police forces were deployed.

They will keep vigil and carrying rifle, gun, pistol, revolver, bomb and other traditional weapons such as bow and arrow and other explosive devises was prohibited. However, government offices, banks, courts, shops and market places will remain opened as usual, said the concerned authorities.

The enforcement of Section 144 Cr.PC will not be binding on government staff, officers and security personnel, private and public.
