Jharkhand in-charge of Congress, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, on Tuesday( June 25,2024) visited Birsa Munda central jail and met ex CM Hemant Soren. Soren who is accused in money laundering case linked with a land scam welcomed Ghulam Ahmad Mir. 

They reportedly talked about appointment of a Congress Minister in the Champai Soren government. Prior to the Mir- Soren meet, three facts need to be explained. 

One, after Congress leader and the then Rural Development Minister was arrested and jailed in money laundering case,Alamgir Alam had quit the post of Minister, creating ripples in the Champai Soren government. 

Two, CM Champai Soren met Congress Mallikarjun Kharge in Delhi on February 18,2024. 

Three, as many as 12 MLAs of the Congress had reportedly threatened to boycott the last state assembly session from February 23.

They were understood to be unhappy with the Congress' decision to give ministerial berths to Alamgir Alam, Rameshwar Oraon, Banna Gupta and Badal Patralekh again. Now, since Alamgir Alam is no more Minister, there is vacancy in the Champai Soren cabinet. 

Against this backdrop, the talks between Ghulam Ahmad Mir and Hemant Soren who is considered to be “remote controlling” the Champai Soren government from behind the high walls of the jail,expected to revolve around the “ reshuffle” in the Champai Soren Cabinet. However, it is officially not confirmed or denied as “ rumour.”
