*Late Snehlata Choudhary, Saraikela
The 99th edition of “Maan Ki Baat”. On this platform Prime Minister Narendra Modi today talked about the significance of organ donation and cited the example set by Jharkhand’s woman and redident of Saraikela. Snehlata Choudhary.
She earned her name as great organ donator only after her death.The persons like Snehlata Choudhary can take the cause of human society forward.
Her name is linked with organ donation.In fact, organ donation is a process when person allows an organ of their own to be removed and transplanted to another person, legally, either by consent while the donor is alive or dead with the assent of the next of kin.
Before her death Snehlata Choudhary was ex President of Marwari Mahila Samiti. She had donated her eyes at the age of 10. She used to talk and feel about organ donation. However, since there was no medical facility available in Saraikela, her aim to lead a movement for organ donation could not take off.
On September 17,2022, while she had gone for morning walk, she was hit by an unidentified vehicle.She was taken to New Delhi and admitted at AIIMS on September 20. She was diagnosed there under direction of her brother who was Deputy Director of AIIMS cum ex Deputy Commissioner of Saraikela Ravindra Kumar Agrawal.
Unfortunately, Snehlata Agrawal succumbed to injury on October 1,2022.In view of her desire in life, her parents donated her organs to AIIMS.
Aware of Snehlata Choudhary and her family’s contribution in the form of organ donation, PM Modi expressed appreciation and congratulated them.
“I bow down and congratulate them.It is a source of inspiration”, said PM Modi.
PM Modi further said that “ a donar like her and her family goes by showcasing importance of organ donation in our society.I am satisfied that in our country such remarkable works are going on…Many lives can be saved by organ donations. The society need such people.”
