Jharkhand Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma on Wednesday reviewed the work of the state food and civil supply department and directed its officers to cancel the license of shops not using EPOS.
In fact,EPOS stands for Electronic Point of Sale digital system and is a computerised system used in shops, restaurants and other retail outlets. Essentially it’s an electronic way of letting people pay for goods or services.
The CS directed the Department officials to cancel the license of shops not using EPOS.While addressing them through the video conference,she directed them to eliminate ‘middlemen’ by paying minimum accepted rate of farm products to farmers.
Her directive aimed to promote cashless transaction to end black marketing and increase revenue of the government in accordance with the Narendra Modi government’s initiative.
The priority will be given to women groups for granting lisence of Public Distribution Shops,the CS directed the Department officers.
The CS made it clear that the food materials should be gathered through “e-procurement system” and payment made in a time frame.
