Prime Minister Narendra Modi who landed in the state to reach Sindri and dedicated the revived Sindri fertilizer plant, managed by Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan Limited, in Jharkhand.
In addition, PM Modi laid the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth Rs 35,700 crore in Jharkhand. The railway sector in the state is set to get a major boost as the PM will flag off three new trains.
Incidentally, the revival of the fertilizer plant -Hindustan Urvarak and Rasayan Limited- is the third fertilizer plant to be revived in the country following those in Gorakhpur and Ramagundam.
Jharkhand Governor C P Radhakrishnan, CM Champai Soren and Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya were present during the event.
Further, he also dedicated the North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Project in Jharkhand’s Chatra district to the nation.
Twenty-three years ago, the project's foundation stone was laid by then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on March 6, 1999, with the hope of bringing development to the area infamous for Maoism and backwardness.
Now PM Modi dedicated it and NTPC has declared the commercial operations date of its first unit of 660 MW capacity of the North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Station (3x660 MW) in Jharkhand.
“The first unit of 660 MW capacity of North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Station (3x660 MW) is declared on commercial operation w.e.f. 00:00 hrs of 01.03.2023," the company said in an exchange filing.
With the addition of this unit, the standalone and group commercial capacity of NTPC will be 58,979 MW and 71,594 MW, respectively, the company said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day tour of Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Bihar on March 1 and 2, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects including those related to rail, road, and power.
