Yashaswini Sahay, daughter of senior Congress leader and ex Minister of state for home, Subodh Kant Sahay, figures in the list of the Congress candidates for the Ranchi Lok Sabha seat. 

Yashaswini Sahay, only daughter of Subodh Kant Sahay and his wife Rekha Sahay, who is a famous theatre personality, has gained limelight for her social works.She does not propagate herself in social media though she has 33 followers in the X. 

Yashaswini Sahay is among two others who figured prominently in the Congress list of candidates to be named as party nominee in the LS polls 2024 from Ranchi. 

They are ex BJP turned Congress member Ram Tahal Choudhary and Banna Gupta, Minister in the Champai Soren government. 

 As per reliable information, the screening committee of the Congress party axed Subodh Kant Sahay on grounds of his 73 years of age as he was born on June 11,1951. 

Aware of Subodh Kant Sahay’s popularity,Deepak Lal, senior Congress leader and considered close to the former, said, the Congress high command did not like to hurt him by rejecting his candidature and as such, its leaders sought his “advice”. 

In response, Subodh Kant Sahay sent a letter recommending his daughter’s Yashaswini Sahay.  

The Congress party is yet to announce its candidate for Ranchi LS seat. The LS polls 2024 in Ranchi will be held on May 25.
