With beginning of Adivasi Mahotsav 2023 at Bhagwan Birsa Munda Memorial Park-cum-Museum in Ranchi’s Jail chowk today, the inaugural address was noteworthy.

Before the inauguration,the departed souls who were killed in ethnic violence in Manipur were paid tributes. The participants observed one- minute silence in their memory and honour to pay honour.

Then,lighting of the lamp event took place.In the function, 35 books based on research and true stories were released together.

Also, a postal stamp on Adivasi Mahotsav.Adivasi( Indegenous people )inhabit all parts of the world.

While addressing the gathering, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren wished them and started his speech saying this is for the second time Adivasi Mahotsav was being organised.” 

Last year, despite heavy rains, Mahotsav was  held with pomp and show.This time again, the event is being with full of joy and enthusiasm”, said Soren. 

Soren expressed happiness and pride for organising the Adivasi Mahotsav. It has its own importance, he said.He informed that two -day event is going to show tribal tradition, history, culture and tradition as participants who were taking part in the Mahotsav hail from different states in the country.

“The programme will not only highlight major problems of Adivasis, but also put focus on Adivasi economy, Adivasi psychology and practices”, said the CM Soren.

Pointing out the importance and contributions of Adivasi community, Soren said Adivasis have strong sense of self respect and they don’t beg.They are indigenous people of the country.

“ Our ancestors saved forest,hills, mountains. But no body should look at as poor.The whole story of development has been recorded by our ancestors.The need of the hour is to create eco system to honour and cooperate Adivasi community”,said the CM Soren.

Soren further stated that currently Adivasis were divided and remained unorganised. As a result,the subject of Adivasi community of one region/ state does not match with its counter parts of other regions/ states.When the threat looms over identity,then to move forward becomes essential.

“ Adivasis sing and dance. But when they get angry, they shoot arrow too”, said the CM Soren.

In addition to scores of people present on the inaugural function, VIPs included JMM supremo Shibu Soren,JMM MLA Champai Soren,Vinod Singh, Jaimangal Singhand Rajesh Kachhap.

Among top bureaucrats who were graced the event included Chief Secretary Sukhdeo Singh, DGP Ajay Kumar and Tribal Welfare Secretary Rajiv Varun Ekka, Principal Sectetary to CM,Vandana Dadel and Vinay Kumar Choubey.
